Impact

When Finding the Solution CIC first met 11-year-old Amina*, she was withdrawn, shy, and struggling with confidence. As a visually impaired child, Amina often felt excluded from group activities - even in her school environment. Despite her teachers’ best intentions, she found it difficult to fully participate in sports and social opportunities, and this began to affect her self-esteem.

Her journey began when her school hosted one of our Goalball in Schools sessions. With the support of our team and the inclusive nature of Goalball, Amina was able to take part as an equal. For the first time, her visual impairment was not a barrier but a shared experience.

As the sessions progressed, Amina began to come out of her shell. She responded positively to the team-based environment and started to demonstrate stronger communication and leadership skills. Her mother shared, “Thank you for the impact you have had on my child’s life. She was very quiet, unconfident, and shy. She is now much more confident.”

Since then, Amina has joined a local Goalball club and is playing regularly. She is not only growing in skill but has also built friendships and found a community where she feels fully accepted. The safe, supportive environment provided by Finding the Solution has helped her flourish-not just as a player, but as a young person discovering her voice and potential.

This case illustrates the transformative power of inclusive sport and the importance of creating spaces where all children, regardless of ability, feel seen, valued, and empowered.
